Privacy Policy

valyou is a content filter that hides hateful, violent, and rage-baiting content on the social networks you choose to browse — as a Chrome extension and as an iOS and Android app. This policy explains exactly what valyou does and does not do with your information. It is intentionally short, because valyou is built to need almost nothing from you.

What runs on your device — and stays there

Everything valyou does happens locally. Nothing in this section ever leaves your device.

• The content filter. The classifier, word lists, and machine-learning model are bundled inside valyou. The text on the pages you view is analyzed in memory, on your device, and then discarded. It is never uploaded.
• Your settings. Your filtering preferences — which categories to hide, sensitivity, video policy, and any allow/block lists — are stored on your device. On the extension they live in the browser's local storage; on iOS and Android they are held in the operating system's secure keystore (Apple Keychain / Android Keystore), encrypted at rest and never synced to the cloud.
• Anonymous counters. valyou keeps simple local tallies, such as how many items it filtered, so it can show you what it's doing. These are numbers only — they contain no content, author, or address — and they are never transmitted.

What we do not do

• We do not collect, store, or transmit your name, email, contacts, location, browsing history, or the content of any page.
• We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking of any kind.
• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not operate accounts, logins, or servers of our own — valyou makes no network requests, so there is no channel through which your data could be sent.
• We do not sell or share user data, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to filtering — including creditworthiness or lending.

The websites you browse

valyou lets you view third-party websites — such as Facebook, Instagram, and X — either in your normal browser (the extension) or in an in-app browser (the mobile apps). When you sign in to and use those sites, your relationship is with them, and their own privacy policies and terms govern that activity, exactly as if you had opened them in any browser.

valyou does not read, store, or relay your credentials or your session — sign-in happens directly between your device and the site. valyou only ever hides content those sites send to your device; it never alters, reposts, transmits, or collects anything from them.

Permissions we request

valyou asks only for what its single purpose requires:

• Storage — to save your own settings and local counters on your device, as described above.
• Access to the supported sites (facebook.com, messenger.com, instagram.com, x.com, twitter.com) — so the filter can read posts, comments, ads, and messages as they load and hide or blur the ones you chose to filter. valyou requests no other sites and no broad "all websites" access, and it makes no network request to these or any host.

Children

valyou does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children. Because it collects nothing, there is no personal information of a child (or anyone) for us to hold.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and ship the new version with the product. Because valyou does not collect contact information, material changes will be communicated through the app listing and this page rather than by email.

This policy reflects how valyou actually works: a filter that runs entirely on your device, with no servers to send anything to. If any future feature would ever change that, it would be opt-in and disclosed here first.
